Alison has set up a puppet theatre and workshop in Rothesay with start-up funding.
As an active member of the Bute community, she has organised numerous productions on the island and throughout Scotland. Alison has a wealth of experience in theatre, visual arts, puppetry and music. She trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama and also holds an honours degree in design from Glasgow School of Art.
Alison aims to provide workshops and train people in the craft of making puppets. Her work often focuses on Celtic legends and themes, appealing to visitors to Bute as well as the local community.
Alison has been developing links both on and off the island including a local writing group and Puppet Animation Scotland. She also hopes to develop links with the Syrian Refugee community.
Puppets reach people that perhaps other forms of cultural activity don't. Being part of the programme takes things to another level, and you start thinking in a bigger way.
